Over this past weekend we were in Garrattsville NY testing frames and sizes for our Spring 2015 line-up. We tested three different strut lengths (30", 40", and 60"). We built 10 facet versions with each length, and two 20 facet versions in the 30" and 40" lengths.
All three of the 10 facet versions are rock solid and go up quickly. We call the 30" inch version "the Scout", the 40" "the Nomad", and the 60" "the Lodge". We got feedback last year that it was hard to tell how big the domes are without a frame of reference. To that end, I had Michael stand by each dome as we went. Seeing them together does begin to give a since of there size.
In addition to the 10 facet configuration we also successfully built our first 20 facet versions! The largest to date had been a 16 facet radial configuration (currently on our home page). This weekend we built 20 facet versions in both 30" and 40" lengths. We've been calling the 20 facets "bubbles", but may find a better name.
The 20 facet domes are a bit more complicated to set-up in comparison to the 10, beyond the fact that it is double the number of facets, it takes a little skill to figure out the order in which the latter facets gets get assembled.
We've had customers state a preference for both the smaller and larger domes. Which one appeals to you most, and why? Drop us a line, let us know.
