Our domes have been customized to suit just about every festival need. (BTW the frame isn't rated for suspension, yet.) Below are a few examples of directions we've taken, both in our own installations and in partnership with dreamers just like you. We have solutions for many environments, with colors and prints for every style. Check our project gallery here.
We believe festival spaces should provide more than basic shelter. They should aim higher on any spectrum of needs:
With the inclusion of an inner tent, our Scout and Nomad models are ideal for individuals and smaller groups, who value privacy without sacrificing personal style. Quick and easy set-up, compact transport package, and machine-washable finishes make it ready to go, any time the festival trail starts calling.
The lower profile of these cabana-style configurations can handle all but the most severe weather conditions. And the stretch fabrics we use to finish our domes can be easily adjusted to allow for more or less ventilation.
Community has been the focus of Archimedes Design since our inception. We wanted to be able to build an attractive large community shelter that would act as the center point of our theme camp.
We didn't want the set-up to take days, allowing any member of camp to contribute (regardless of strength) to construction.
Community-based installations are not meant to shut off the outside world entirely. The frame and finishes have permeable qualities that maintain presence with the environment. They reduce visual distractions and orient attention into the center.
Community domes are good for hosting classes and workshops. The Lodge size frame is large enough for groups of 20+ supine or 60+ standing.
Community domes are not limited to the outdoors. Cavernous party spaces can be greatly served with temporary installations that help delineate space, creating a feel and flow for the event. We've done numerous indoor installations, including a Nomad-sized blacklight dome for Montréal's Burning Man decompression party TaBURNak!6 in 2014.
When it comes to art, Archimedes Design provides armature, canvas, set, and setting. Over the years we have help clients get to reach personal fulfillment with there projects and not simply shelter.
We've helped make tea houses, butterfly domes, cuddle puddles, fire circles, black light temples, and yoga villages. We've worked with clients to custom dye pre-sewn parts into large mandala tapestries.
How the domes themselves are made is one factor in the creation interactive installations. How you appoint our shells is what brings art and community to the party.
And with all white and silver skinned domes we've begun to explore video mapping collaborations. Creating a fascinating holodeck of limitless video imagery.
But always the most important ingredient is you. Without collaboration our art has no meaning. Without community we can't thrive.
